Tamko Roof Repair in Sacramento: What to Know First
Tamko roof repair in Sacramento typically costs between $350 and $900 for most shingle, flashing, or leak repairs, with most jobs completed in a single visit. We’re an independent Tamko service provider, which means we repair the roof you already have without steering you toward a replacement you don’t need. If you’ve got a Tamko roof that’s leaking, lifting, or showing wear, call (279) 348-3049 and we’ll give you a written price before any work starts.
This page is for Sacramento homeowners who own a Tamko roof and want straight answers: what’s failing, why, what it costs to fix, and whether the repair will hold. Greg Holloway walks every Tamko job himself before a price is ever mentioned, and no crew touches your roof until you’ve seen the number in writing.
How Tamko Products Fail – and How We Fix Them
Tamko makes a solid shingle, but like every brand, certain lines have patterns we see again and again across Sacramento neighborhoods. Here’s what we find most often:
- Heritage Series shingle blow-offs along eaves. Sacramento’s north winds in fall and winter hit eave edges hard. Tamko Heritage shingles have a wider exposure than some competitors, and if the original installer nailed too high on the shingle, wind gets underneath and peels them back. We replace the lifted shingles and re-secure the surrounding course with proper nail placement, not just a dab of adhesive.
- Lamarite slate composite cracking at the corners. Tamko’s Lamarite line looks sharp, but Sacramento’s summer heat cycles (100+ degrees in July, near freezing on winter nights) cause the composite to expand and contract more than natural slate ever would. Hairline cracks start at the corners of individual tiles. The fix is one-for-one tile replacement with color-matched Lamarite or a compatible composite, never a mismatched patch.
- MetalWorks steel shingle seam separation. MetalWorks panels rely on interlocking seams, and when Sacramento gets a wet winter after a long dry stretch, the decking beneath can shift slightly. That movement opens seams at the panel overlaps. We re-crimp or replace affected panels and check the underlayment beneath so water that got in doesn’t sit against the decking.
- Valley failure on Tamko roofs with cut valleys. We see this on roofs where the original installer used a cut valley (shingles lapped across the valley) instead of a woven or metal valley. Debris from Sacramento’s oak and elm trees collects in the valley, backs up water, and rots the shingle edges. Our fix is to rebuild the valley properly, usually with a metal valley liner and new shingles cut clean.
- Vent boot and pipe flashing leaks on older Tamko installs. Tamko shingles can last 20 to 30 years, but the rubber vent boots and pipe collars installed at the same time often fail at year 12 or 15. The roof looks fine, but water follows the pipe down into the attic. We replace the boot or collar with a longer-lived lead or heavy rubber unit and re-seat the surrounding Tamko shingles so the flashing integrates with the original layering.

Our Tamko Roof Repair Process
- 1
You call, a live person answers. No voicemail. We ask what you’re seeing, take your address, and set a window for Greg or a senior tech to walk the roof.
- 2
Inspection, not a sales pitch. We get on the roof, check the obvious problem, then look at the surrounding courses for hidden damage. On a Tamko job, we also check the brand-specific details: nail placement, valley construction, flashing integration.
- 3
Parts decision. We tell you whether we’re using Tamko shingles (always our first choice for a match), a quality aftermarket shingle if Tamko doesn’t make an exact color-match anymore, or a non-Tamko component like flashing or vent boots where Tamko doesn’t manufacture the part.
- 4
Written price before any work starts. We hand you a line-item quote. That price doesn’t change unless we find rotted decking underneath, and if we do, you approve the added cost before we touch it.
- 5
The repair, done clean. We fix what’s broken, check the surrounding area one more time, and leave your yard the way we found it. No loose nails in the driveway.
- 6
Written guarantee and the 365-Day Done Right Promise. Before the crew leaves, you get the guarantee in writing. If the repair fails inside a year, we return and make it right at no charge.
What Tamko Roof Repair Costs in Sacramento
Most Tamko repairs in Sacramento fall into these ranges, and our written price always includes labor, materials, and cleanup:
- Single shingle replacement: $250 – $450, depending on access and whether we have to pull shingles from a bundle we stock.
- Pipe boot or vent boot replacement: $225 – $400, including the shingle re-seating around the flashing.
- Small leak repair (flashing or valley): $350 – $750, depending on how far the water traveled and how much underlayment we need to replace.
- Flat roof patch on a Tamko modified bitumen roof: $400 – $850, including cleaning, priming, and a new patch lapped into the existing system.
- Multiple shingle replacement after wind damage (6 – 10 shingles plus ridge cap): $450 – $900.
What moves the price is access (two-story roofs, steep pitches), the condition of the decking beneath, and whether the damaged shingles are in a valley or against a wall. Call (279) 348-3049 and we’ll give you an exact written quote. Estimates are free, and they don’t come with a sales agenda.

AfterWhy Sacramento Homeowners Call Tilehurst Roofing Sacramento for Tamko Work
Because we tell you the price before we touch your roof – every time, no exceptions. That’s the Kingswell Way, and it’s how we’ve operated since 2000.
Our techs know Tamko’s product lines well enough to tell a Heritage Series shingle from a Titan XT just by looking at the granule pattern and exposure. If a repair requires a shingle we can’t source in the exact color, we say so before quoting, and we offer alternatives. We also carry and service GAF, Owens Corning, and CertainTeed, so if you’re considering a partial re-roof with a different brand, we can tell you honestly how it’ll look and hold up next to your existing Tamko.
Every Tamko repair gets a written guarantee on the day the work is done. If the repair fails inside the guarantee period, we come back at no charge under the 365-Day Done Right Promise. No fine print, no phone tag.
FAQs
In most cases, a repair done by an independent contractor does not void the manufacturer’s material warranty, as long as the repair itself doesn’t alter the roof’s original installation in a way Tamko’s warranty documents prohibit. We keep our repairs localized: we replace only what’s damaged and match the original installation method as closely as we can. If you have a Tamko warranty claim in progress, we can document the repair so you have what you need for the claim.
Tamko has produced many color lines over the years, and some older colors are discontinued. When the exact color is still in production, we source Tamko shingles for the repair. When it’s not, we’ll show you the closest available match before we start, and you’ll see the options on paper with the price. Call (279) 348-3049 and we’ll check your roof’s color and year in person.
A properly installed shingle replacement should last as long as the surrounding roof, assuming the decking beneath is sound. We guarantee every repair in writing for a full year under the 365-Day Done Right Promise, and if it fails inside that window, we return and correct it at no charge. For a specific assessment of your roof’s remaining life, call us for an inspection.
If the damage is isolated – a handful of shingles, a flashing joint, a pipe boot – repair is almost always the better money. Replace when the shingles are worn through across broad areas, the decking is soft in multiple places, or you’re seeing leaks in more than one room. We’ll tell you which situation you’re in, and we’ll show you the numbers for both options so the decision is yours.
For active leaks, we prioritize getting someone out to inspect, usually within a day or two. If the repair is routine, we schedule it at a time that works for you and arrive in the window we gave. Every call is answered by a live person, 24 hours a day, so you’re never leaving a message and hoping.
